The Kids Fest @ Immigration museum

The Immigration Museum hosted a Kids fest –“COOL CARIBBEAN” to link with the present exhibition: CARIBBEAN CALLALOO.

Ric Atkinson, programmers’ officer, organized a number of workshops to engage the audience of parents and children.

The event began at 11.00a.m.with workshops for children to make Toucan masks, mini cricket bats and Rasta friendship bracelets.

The Immigration Museum was buzzing with excited squeals of children as they mimicked the rainforest birds. Many posed with their minibats imitating West Indian cricketer, Dwayne Bravo, who did a photo shoot promotion, earlier in the week

In the theatrette, Jigzie Campbell with Lloyd Watson Jones and RuCL performed traditional Jamaican dances and songs. The theatrette was packed with enthusiastic participants eager to share in the interactive and lively cultural performances which took place continually during the day.

In the court yard there was a live drum performance where families gathered to enjoy the atmosphere.

Throughout the day, West Indian food was available with non alcoholic drinks.

It was a fun day for all the families bringing the exhibition alive.

The exhibition continues until 6th March 2010.
