The CaribVic Steelband is made up of 25 steel drums played by 11 drummers was formed in Melbourne in January 2014. The majority of its members have never played an instrument before.
The Band represented the West Indies in the February 2015 Opening Ceremony of the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup in the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne.
We play at the annual CaribVic Cultural Days in Yarra Bend Park and have been invited to play at the Organic Market in Healesville, in Street Festivals in Fairfield and Open days in Thornbury.
In October 2015 The CaribVic Steelband placed 4th in its first Australian Steelband Panorama Competition in Brisbane.
In July 2016 we have been asked to present a Concert for patrons of the Illawong Village in Patterson Lakes, and in August 2016 we performed at the Hamer Hall, Arts Centre Melbourne as part of the Boîte Millennium Chorus – Windrush event.
This community Steelband is available for events big or small. We practice in Northcote, Victoria twice weekly.
